history: Series 1 & 2.

Series 3:

Three months after completing her community service, Kelly sells her power to a dealer named Seth. However, after Nikki dies the gang realise that their powers may have helped save her. Seth tells them he'll sell their powers back for twice the price he sold them at, and they are unable to buy back Curtis' time manipulation as he has already sold this. They get the money to buy new powers after unintentionally killing a Catholic posing as Jesus, but none of them choose their old ones. Kelly herself chooses technopathy, believing that being a rocket scientist will help earn her respect and a well paid career.

She quickly comes to learn that this isn't the case, however. Because of her accent and demeanour, no one believes that someone like Kelly could ever come up with the ideas she does. They claim she steals plans, and she soon comes to hate her new power. Although she complains about this to Seth, he won't change it for her.

After meeting Rudy, a young offender, they soon start finding themselves in trouble again, minus Nathan who is in Vegas at the time. After helping him out after he pisses off a girl with the ability to freeze time, they find themselves back in community service after Rudy takes them for a ride in a car he's neglected to tell them is stolen. Naturally, this just leads to more trouble for all of them.

Eventually the old man who bought Curtis' time manipulation off Seth uses it as he intended, attempting to go back in time and kill Hitler. However, he fails, and Hitler's discovery of his mobile phone leads to the Germans having won World War II. In this version of history, Kelly is still doing community service, but she is also a part of the resistance against the Nazis. When the Nazis capture Seth, she is initially supposed to kill him, but finds that she can't as she knows he is being used by them and does not really want to do as they say. Instead she attempts to rescue him, but this plan goes awry and ends in Seth's death, as well as Curtis' and likely anyone else who attempted to help in their rescue. Before he dies, Seth gives Kelly the power of time manipulation in a kiss, and Kelly travels back in time to make sure Hitler doesn't gain the technology he needed to win the war.

With the timeline fixed, and two sets of memories, Kelly decides she likes being a rocket scientist after all, and trades Curtis' old power for technopathy again on the condition that Seth never gives it to anyone else.

Over the course of the third series, Kelly develops feelings for Seth. However, he is initially very hot and cold with her as he still feels guilty over the death of his old girlfriend. It is only after Kelly tells him about the Nazi timeline he eventually decides to go to the community centre and ask her out. She agrees, but ends up standing up him when a coma patient forces her to switch bodies. Seth and the others eventually manage to resolve this, though, and Kelly pursues a relationship with him.

personality:

At first glance, Kelly appears to be a generic chav. With a strong Derby accent, unrefined manners, and a tough as nails attitude, Kelly is everything that the media would have you know is wrong with the British youth today.

She has a very aggressive personality, taking offence if you so much as look at her the wrong way. Kelly is not one to sit and take insults, so if she thinks you're taking a dig at her you can guarantee at least a threat. She's not afraid to go through with them, either. She packs a powerful punch, and is more than capable of holding her own if it does come to her fight. And if a slap won't suffice, resorting to head butting isn't exactly beneath her.

She doesn't take kindly to slights to her friends, either. Kelly is fiercely loyal, and will do anything to protect them, whether it be from probation workers, Nazis, or even other friends. Whenever Nathan takes his bullying of Simon too far, Kelly is the first to step up with a slap to the face and a warning to back off. To a lesser extent, this continues even after Simon's stood up to Nathan and they start to develop a closer friendship. She also sticks up for the others when she feels they need it, such as confronting Curtis in his female form when she misunderstands a situation and thinks that Simon is cheating on Alisha with him in that form. In a later reversed time line, Kelly even goes so far to kill their probation worker to stop him strangling Nathan, even with his immortality meaning that he would have been all right. This is hardly an isolated incident, either. In another alternate time line, she goes on a Nazi killing spree to rescue Curtis from their cells. This is a time line she keeps her memories of, even after she has fixed it.

Despite her willingness to kill for the sake of her friends, Kelly is not completely ruthless. In the same alternate time line, she is unwilling to kill Seth, despite him being used by the Nazis, just because he isn't one of them. After seeing him prepared to take his own life rather than let the Nazis powers from him, she even goes to great lengths to save him rather than just let him die or attempt to kill him again. She does have a heart, despite her rough exterior.

In fact, she has a very big heart. Kelly cares a lot about her friends, and not so deep down she is a real softie. She's a bit of a romantic, and tends to fall for people fast and hard. She develops a soft spot for Nathan in the first series, and even after she comes to the realisation she thinks they're better off as friends, they remain close. She even enquires after him on occasion after he takes off for Vegas. She also comes to care for Bruno during one episode, mostly thanks to her psychic abilities and how he is always thinking nice, romantic things like how beautiful she is. The breakdown of her relationship with her fiancé prior to the series was in part due to her powers making her realise his thought process wasn't as romantic as she'd thought it was. Currently, she has a crush on Seth, the dealer who supplied her with her current power. Now she's seen his softer side, and watched him die at the hands of Nazis, her feelings only seem to have grown for him, and she points out he does care about other people, no matter how he presents himself.

It's not just other people Kelly cares about, though. Although she tries to hide it behind a hard exterior, Kelly really does worry about what other people think of her. The power she got from the storm was the ability to hear other people's thoughts, and all the initial powers were a reflection on the holders personality. Kelly knows people judge her for the way she looks and acts, and she hates it. Being able to hear people think it as well as say it was very difficult for her to deal with, and she doesn't regret losing that power much, despite not being fond of her new power initially.

Being a rocket scientist has grown on her, and it has proved to be very useful on a few occasions now. However, she has to deal with people thinking she's a liar, which is also hard for her. No one believes someone like her could ever be as clever as that, and so it isn't something she's been able to use to its full extent. That said, dealing with smaller gadgets than rockets is a bit more believable, and Kelly is starting to learn she can use that to her advantage.

abilities/powers:

Technopathy/Rocket Science: Thanks to her power, Kelly has an advanced understanding of electronics and technology. Although Kelly initially complains about the limitations on her power, it seems to apply to all forms of technology. She's been shown to use it for anything from designing rocket propulsion systems, to fixing cars, to disabling a burglar alarm. Her intelligence remains unchanged in all other aspects, however.

[voice]

[The voice on the other end of the line is English. English, and very irritated. This isn't RP English, though. This is a thick, Derby accent. But whilst all the words may not be 100% clear, the tone carries all too well.]

Er. Do you want to tell us what's going on? 'Cause if you don't, I'm gonna start kickin' the shit out of you.

Why'd you bring me here? And why am I in this stupid paper thing? I only just got out of hospital clothes. If you think I'm goin' to start walkin' around in this, mate, you've got another thing coming.

I want me own clothes. And my own phone. I want you to fuckin' tell me where I am.

[When there's no response, her already raised voice turns into a shout.]

Fuckin' answer me, all right? You don't start talkin' now, I'm goin' to 'ave to come find you meself.

“Fuckin' hate this job,” Kelly complained, not for the first time, dumping her scrubbing back into the bucket of water next to her feet. They'd been at it all day, and her arms were killing her. She couldn't wait to get it over with and go for the night. “It's stupid. We didn't even do any of this.”

“There's only one wall left,” Simon pointed out. It didn't make her feel better. Scrubbing paint off concrete took ages, and they'd still probably find more up there the next day.

“Whatever,” Kelly sighed, kicking the bucket to one side, ignoring the dirty water that sloshed out. “I'm starving. Any of youse lot fancy goin' down to the chippy?”

They all ended up going in the end, leaving their brushes and buckets where they were for when they got back. Even in Wertham, no one was stupid enough to steal something like that. She was in a comparatively good mood by the time they got back. There's was nothing quite like a big bag of greasy chips covered in curry sauce and mayo to make you feel better when you were having a shit day. At least until you came across some dickhead skiving off school undoing all your hard work. She shoved what was left of her chips at Rudy, scowling all over again.

“Oi!” The kid turned around, startled, shoving the spray can under his blazer like that somehow made it less obvious what he'd been doing. “I've been cleaning that shit all mornin'. The wall in't even dry yet, now you're tellin' me I've got to do it all again?”

For a moment it looked like the kid wouldn't manage to say anything, but after what seemed like a great deal of effort he managed to stutter out a strangled “I-I didn't...”

“You think I'm thick, or somethin'?” Kelly strode forward, jabbing an angry finger in his face. “That's bullshit. I'm not blind. You want to fuck off out of 'ere before I kick your fuckin' teeth in, mate.”

Lucky for him, he was quick to obey, leaving Kelly to take out her wrath on the can he'd left behind. Curtis looked down as it skittered to a stop by his feet.

“Oh, nice,” he said, sarcastically. “You couldn't have got him to clean it up for us?”

“Fuck off,” Kelly groaned, glowering at the scrawled RICHARD IZ G marring all her hard work.

“D'you reckon Richard's his boyfriend?” Rudy asked, thoughtfully, as if that had anything to do with it. Kelly was about to shout at him, when he yelped, shaking water off his shoe. “Aw, Jesus. I think he pissed himself.”

“Pretty sure that's water,” Curtis told him, sounding as exasperated as Kelly felt. “It's from the bucket, innit?”

Kelly rolled her eyes, retrieving the brush from the bottom of the nearest bucket. “Can we just get this finished? I want go 'ome.”

case no: Whatever works.
